Localtech Eye privacy policy

Last updated 29 October 2026

This policy tells you what information Localtech Eye collects, why, who receives it and how you control it. It applies to the iPhone app, the Android app and this website.

Who we are

Local Technology Partners Pty Ltd (ABN 66 684 267 909), of Brisbane, Queensland, runs Localtech Eye. Localtech Eye is not a council app or a government app. You use it to send a report to your council. In this policy, "we" and "us" means Local Technology Partners.

What we collect

  • Your name. You must give it before you send a report.
  • Your email address. You use it with your password to sign in. We email you a code to confirm the address, and a code to reset your password.
  • Your password. We store it only as a scrypt hash. Nobody can read your password from the hash, and we cannot read it.
  • Your phone number, if you choose to give it.
  • Your reports: what the problem is, your description and your answers to the council's questions.
  • Photos that you add to a report.
  • The report's location: the place that you mark on the map.
  • A push token, if you turn on notifications in the app. We use it to tell you about updates to your reports.
  • The app version, so that we can find and fix problems.
  • A random device id that the app makes when you install it. It does not identify your phone outside Localtech Eye.

What we do not collect

  • We do not use analytics services that send your information out of Australia.
  • We do not collect an advertising id, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
  • We do not read your contacts.
  • We do not collect your location in the background. The app uses your location only when you use "Use my location" on a report.
  • We do not sell your information. We do not show advertisements.

Why we collect it

  • To send your report to the council for the place that you marked.
  • So that the council can contact you about your report.
  • To show you your reports and the council's updates in My reports.
  • To keep your account safe and to stop misuse, for example spam reports.

Who receives your information

Your name, email address and phone number go to the council with every report, so that the council can contact you. Your report, photos and the location go with them. You cannot send a report without your name in Localtech Eye. To report without your name, call your council.

If the council uses the Customer Requests module of Localtech Core, your report goes into the council's own system. If not, we email it to the council's published customer service address. The council keeps your report as a public record and handles it under its own privacy policy.

Other residents never see your reports. If you turn on notifications, Apple or Google delivers them to your phone. A notification contains only your report reference, for example EYE-2026-001234.

Where we store it

We store your information, including your photos, on our own servers in Sydney, Australia, hosted by OVHcloud. Emails from Localtech Eye, such as the codes that confirm your email or reset your password, are sent through Amazon Web Services in Sydney. On the web, the maps come from the Queensland Government map service. The iPhone app shows Apple's map, and the Android app shows Google's map. In the apps, when you search for an address or place the pin, the words you type or the pin's place are sent to Apple (iPhone) or Google (Android) to find the address.

Location data in your photos

Photos from a phone often contain the place and time where you took them, and details about the camera. We remove this data from each photo before we store it. We keep the time and place that each photo was taken, and send them to the council with your report, as well as the map pin.

How long we keep it

We keep your account until you delete it. We keep copies of your reports for a limited time, so that you can follow them in My reports, and then we delete them. The council keeps its copy of your report as its record, under its own privacy policy.

Your rights

  • You can see and correct your name and phone number in your profile at any time.
  • You can ask us for a copy of the information that we hold about you.
  • You can ask us to correct or delete your information.

To ask, email support@localtechpartners.com.au from the email address of your account. For information that the council holds, contact the council.

Delete your account

You can delete your account in the app, or ask us by email. Reports that you already sent stay with the council as its record. Read how to delete your account.

Children

Localtech Eye is made for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you are under 16, ask a parent or guardian to make the report for you.

Complaints

If you have a complaint about how we handle your information, email us first at support@localtechpartners.com.au. We will reply to you. If you are not satisfied with our reply, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we change the date at the top of this page. If a change affects what we send to councils, the app and this website show you the new collection notice, and you agree to it again before your next report.
